Grasses, as flowering plants, certainly have flowers but the flowers are insignificant because grasses use the wind to carry their pollen and do not need petals to attract insects. The variety of grasses is huge, ranging from small meadow grasses to giant bamboos but they all grow from a central 'rosette' of leaves and have no branches. Most of the important human crops, for example wheat and rice, are grasses.
